Beheaded Igbo Woman In Kano Identified As Bridget Agbaheme, Attends Depper Life Church

An Igbo woman who was killed yesterday evening in the Kano metropolis of Kano state has been identified as Bridget Agbaheme who attends Pastor Kumuyi’s Deeper Life Bible Church.

The Paradigm had earlier in the day reported how angry Muslim mob beheaded the young woman and paraded her head on the streets of Kano for allegedly abusing Islam’s Prophet Mohammed.

The late Mrs. Agbaheme, a trader, was known to be a peaceful and decent woman.

A trader at the Kofar Wambai market told a Sahara Reporters correspondent, “I knew her as woman that respected people and I doubt she made any statement capable of blasphemy.

“Mrs. Bridget Agbaheme had many customers buying goods from her petty trading along the roadside but I suspect maybe her enemies ignited this against her.”

In a press statement made available to newsmen this evening, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Kano State expressed sadness and grief over her violent death.

The statement was signed by the President of the Ndigbo and his secretary, Chief Chris Chukwubuzor Asuka and Chief Damian Obisike, respectively.

“We wish to condemn the extrajudicial murder of Mrs. Bridget Agbaheme and we call on the authorities to take every step needed to properly investigate the incident so as to ascertain exactly what happened and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

“We are worried by the alarming culture of violence and bloodshed in Nigeria where faceless elements take laws into their own hands, often on the grounds of religion, without recourse to the rule of law,” the statement read.

The statement also called on all Kano citizens, especially the Sabon Gari Community, to remain calm and law-abiding while the incident is being investigated.

According to them, Islam and Christianity are religions of peace and we all have a duty of respecting our religion and that of others, and must not engage in acts capable of provoking ethnic or religious tensions under whatever guise.
