The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is set to commence intensive training of its Aviation Security, Airport Rescue and Firefighting personnel.
The Managing Director of FAAN, Eng Saleh Dunoma stated this during an inspection tour of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
He said the strategy was geared towards promoting safety, security and airport excellence, based on International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) annex 14 Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS), and Airport Council International (ACI) Best Practices.
According him, “the first batch of one hundred personnel drawn from the Aviation Security, Airport Rescue and Firefighting personnel are being shortlisted for the first batch, after which the other six hundred personnel will follow suit”.
He said the capacity building will strengthen FAAN’s ability at mitigating safety vulnerabilities, identified by the evaluation observed by the regulators, the NCAA.
